Department
Fire protection is provided by the exceptional staff of 25 volunteers who make up the Davenport Fire Department, 102 N Oak Avenue, with six serving as EMTs and three First Responders. The firemen also serve as storm spotters. A new fire hall was dedicated November 1999. 911 service is centered at the county sheriff’s office. For more information, visit the Fire Department Website.
Law Enforcement
Thayer County Law Enforcement, located in Hebron, provides patrol and protection services. The crime rate in Thayer County is among the lowest in the nation. Phone (402) 768-6139 or 911.

Community Center
Davenport Community Center, 110 South Linden Avenue, is a good-sized, multi-purpose building available to rent for public and personal functions. It hosts the Senior Center which prepares weekday noon meals and Meals-On-Wheels for residents of Davenport and surrounding communities. Other Community Center activities include special community events and celebrations, presentations and entertainment, Red Cross Bloodmobile, blood pressure clinics, educational programs, fund-raisers, and recreation. Library
The Davenport Public Library, 109 N. Maple Avenue, meets recreational needs as well as supplements educational needs by maintaining material of permanent value and current interest. The Davenport Women’s Club provides excellent books and magazines, and our library participates in inter-library loan, making the whole wide world of reading available to our local community. The Library is open Monday through Thursday 2:30-5:00 p.m. Library activities include storytime, summer reading programs, and the annual bed-time storyhour. Computer and internet access are also available. The Library Community Room is available to rent for public activities through the Davenport Women’s Club. For more information, call (402) 364-2147.
