The Davenport Public Library, 109 N. Maple Avenue, was organized in 1921 and has occupied the current building since 1928. Its primary purpose is to add to the educational and cultural enrichment of all ages in the Greater Davenport Area. The library has over 14,000 books, 700 DVD’s & Blu-Rays, scientifitc equipment, laptops, printers, high-speed internet access, and a 24 foot inflatable movie screen that can be lent out for family parties. When remodeling is complete, the library will boast a state of the art meeting room with a smart TV, PA system with wired and wireless microphones, Smart Boards, tables and chairs to seat 50 people comfortably, and Zoom capabilities. The kitchen will be equipped to host potlucks and catered dinners for groups of up to 50. The meeting room and kitchen are available by reservation. The library provides free books to children 0-5 years of age through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. The library participates in the Nebraska Overdrive (online books) for anyone with our library card. We hold monthly programs for children and adults, including Summer Reading, speakers, Bedtime Story Hour, and various hobby interests.
